| Bio: | You have reached the LJ of Teawar. For those of you who know me, you can skip right on by, as I'll be describing what you most likely already know. For those who don't... I'm a musician, amateur historian, and pretentious, intellectual snob, residing at Whitworth University in Spokane WA. I enjoy playing bagpipes, reading (preferably classics and political tracts/essays), writing (occasionally), singing Sacred Harp, and scripture (both interpretation and debate). In terms of history, the high medieval period and Renaissance periods are my major area of focus, mostly around Christendom in general, but notably the British Isles. I find the period to be one of the most enlightened periods in history, in which man was more drawn to the supernatural and to God then ever, and one in which the mythological aspect of man was more strong than any other. Early Modern times are also a major focus for me, especially the Baroque period and early American history. I see an almost Romantic beauty of this past, which reflects upon my view of the world in life itself in terms of morals and e My politics change with time, but are currently settled around the traditional Old Right (in other words, a paleoconservative). The philosophies of Edmund Burke, Hillaire Belloc, Adam Smith and others sum up my views most aptly, in case you're looking for examples. Religious searching has been a favorite activity most of my life, but I've finally found my home in the hands of Christ. I go to mass as often as possible, and I'm fully baptized as a convert in the Roman Catholic Church. I've always had a draw to that which we cannot see physically, and I've come to be swayed by the time-tested and orderly ways of the Catholic Church (with a particular love for the Tridentine Mass and orthodox theology). As a new Christian I try to do my best to follow Christ's example as much as possible, although I am always learning. I naturally respect all religions (most of them anyway), though I will not hesitate to fight back any accusations that may arise. Music-wise I enjoy a wide variety of music, with folk music (both traditional and neo), medieval, romantic, baroque, old-school metal, and opera being above all. I find atmosphere, variety, and harmony to be the essentials to an excellent tune, all three of which lack heavily in most of today's popular music. I generally get along fine with almost anybody, though I can come off as shy or aloof by some. I don't really mean to act as such; I've just always been somewhat sheepish among people I'm not 100% comfortable around. My friends are close and few, but I'd rather not have it any other way.
